Blue Sky Invention

Boulder quartet Blue Sky Invention is a sonic powerhouse, a non-genre specific groove symphonic ---whose life is their muse. Blue Sky’s songs are musical mirrors bearing soulful reflection. Featuring a diverse line up, BSI takes their individualized musical history and experiences to form; collectively, bridging the gap between the ‘spontaneous jam explosion’ and ‘the solid song’.

Together the players in Blue Sky Invention guide their audience on a journey. Using elements of funk, bluegrass, psycho billy, blues, and jazz along with good ole rock and roll, causing listeners to take to the dance floor at the sounds of songs like Gifts that are given, Only the Lonely, Betty Lee, and I Hate You. On the flip side Blue Sky Invention’s powerful ballads allowing listeners to connect with their deepest emotions and thoughts through songs like; Bald Lenny, Baby Jane, Messages & Reigning Silence. Blue Sky Invention and the music they reveal is an endless carnival of sound provoking pure human emotions. With the recording of their recent demo and merger with Crazed Management and Crescendo Artist Booking, Blue Sky Invention is poised for their future.

With their first, self-titled studio release recently completed, these four raw talents are operating under Crazed Management, who have managed Metallica, Anthrax and Ministry and worked with Warren Haynes (Allman Bros., Gov’t Mule), the Disco Biscuits, Ace Frehley and King’s X.

Blue Sky Invention is renaissance of sound:

John Beacher (lead vocals, guitar) grew up performing musical theatre in the art community of New Hope, Pennsylvania, absorbing much of the east-coast folk music scene. His approach to music is constantly evolving, taking on new flavors from his world travels; especially after living for some time in India. Since settling in Colorado, John has been pushing his songwriting to new levels and the formation of Blue Sky Invention he believes is the cornerstone for music to change the world. “Our ultimate goal as a band is to help others.”

Jesse “Monty” Darlington (bass, vocals) From a very young age, Monty played classical piano, clarinet, and sung in the town choir with John. A constant creative drive filled Monty, then, college took him from a small Delaware River town to New York City; where he snuck into jazz piano and bass classes, as well as recording classes. Absorbing the urban pace of life through a lens, with a degree in photography and digital imaging, Monty thrives on creating BSI’s artwork and posters. Looking for a new landscape to capture he reunited with his friends in the Rocky Mountains. An avid writer and poet, Monty often contributes to the lyrical content of John’s melodies.

Kevin Orban (vocals, guitar) grew up with John and Monty in the same art community in Pennsylvania. Kevin’s focus as a youth was the blues, and it took him from his infamous barn/jam space (where he often collaborated with John and Monty) to Berklee School of Music in Boston. After studying there, Kevin moved on Colorado to join his old friends. Kevin’s vocals and leads are as complementary to the band as his input as a catalyst in experimentation. Kevin also hand-builds custom tube amps for the guitars and bass in the band and is Blue Sky Inventions Tech head.

Greg Morgan (drums, vocals) Blue Sky’s Colorado native has lived the Boulder music scene to its utmost intensity. Greg, constantly performing in area bands from an early age, even sitting in with touring musical acts; Leftover Salmon and The Other Brothers brings a bit o f the Rocky Mountains to the band. With a background in drum line, Greg’s precise nature led him well into progressive rock. He took a short stint as a bass player in a funk band, but needed to return to his passion, the drums. Greg and John met each other through a series of coincidences. Forming Blue Sky Invention was the most natural musical collaboration the two have ever done and with the addition of Kevin and Monty the family was completed. Greg’s high energy is infectious, and his presence is remarkable.

This is Blue Sky Invention.
